Warehouses Plus & Our DFW Community Partners: Making a Local Impact
At Warehouses Plus, we’re proud to be tucked away in Plano and part of the vibrant DFW community. More than just providing flexible storage and office solutions, we believe in giving back and supporting the organizations and individuals who make our city a better place. This month, we’re shining a light on some incredible local heroes who are making a real difference.
A Conversation with Chef Mark: Feeding Our Summer Kids
The spirit of giving often starts with a genuine desire to help, and in Dallas, we’ve seen that commitment shine brightly through Catering by Chef Mark. Chef Mark, a beloved local caterer, has launched an inspiring summer lunch program to help ensure that local kids who rely on school meals don’t go hungry during the summer months. We recently spoke with Chef Mark to understand the heart behind his incredible initiative.

Warehouses Plus: Mark, thank you for taking the time. Your summer food program for kids gained so much attention within hours of its launch. Why is this cause so important to you?
Chef Mark: “Our summer school kids definitely need help. It’s a tough reality that Texas already leads the nation in hunger, and 1 in 5 kids face food insecurity. My aim with this is heartfelt; it’s about directly assisting those who genuinely need support—families who relied on school lunch programs, perhaps with both parents working multiple jobs just to get by.”

Warehouses Plus: You mentioned this cause is deeply personal. Can you share why?
Chef Mark: “Absolutely. My wife and I just left the movie theater, and I almost always get popcorn. Why? Well, as a child of a single, struggling parent—a mom who absolutely busted her butt for me at every turn—we didn’t have much. But my mom was smart. She knew popcorn would fill you up, and it was cheap. So there were nights she’d give me what little money she had, I’d walk to the 7-11, and get us popcorn for dinner. Little did I know then it wasn’t for a ‘cinematic adventure’ but simply what was available. I’ve gone without.”

Warehouses Plus: That’s incredibly powerful, Mark. It sounds like this is more than just a project for you.
Chef Mark: “There are a lot of things I’m horrible at, but being in service is in my blood. It’s who I am. So it’s as much a gift for me as it is possibly a need for them. This thought I had just days ago has really taken off—we already have several confirmed clients picking up food on Mondays, and more to come with this wider audience!”
Warehouses Plus: How does the program work for families who need meals?
Chef Mark: “Recipients text me their name, number of children, and any food allergies. We prepare three lunches per child for pickup this coming Monday from 9 am to 2 pm. Currently, it’s pick-up only at my kitchen: 8500 N. Stemmons, Suite 1080, Dallas. We hope to offer delivery options in the future, so stay tuned!”
Warehouses Plus: And for those in the community who want to help support this vital effort?
Chef Mark: “If anyone wants to donate, we would gladly accept. You can contribute via Venmo: @Chef-Mark-McDaniel or Zelle: (972) 984-0971. I’m sure I’m leaving plenty out, but I’m always happy to talk more. And again, thank you for shining a light on this!”
This initiative from Catering by Chef Mark highlights the incredible power of local businesses and dedicated individuals coming together to address a critical need. This truly compassionate effort even caught the attention of WFAA, who featured Chef Mark in an on-air interview. You can watch the segment and learn more about his incredible work here: Chef Mark
